Harry Potter and Friends

Posted by Laura (Moñacos, Cosicas y Meriendacenas) at 5:39 AM 1 comments
Long time ago, and to my friend's dissapointment, I refused to watch any of the movies of the Harry Potter saga. I was swamped of so much publicity, merchandising and fan madness that I didn't feel like watching it. What can I say, I have this "hipsteria" attacks sometimes.

The thing is, I came across the first film one day I was boring and I surprisingly liked it.  I can't say I'm head over heels for the movies or the saga, but I enjoyed myself more than I expected watching some of them (The Prisioner of Azkaban is my favorite)

If you remember, I have already made a Snape as a comission and I thought I could make some other characters for the anime and manga convention. All of them are keychain size:

Harry, with black wire glasses and the lightning  scar (I don't know if you can appreciate it, the pics are not very good...)

Here's Harry and Ginny :

Ron was my favorite from the beginning.  He's so adorable!

It was breaking my heart to think I had to give away my Ron keychain... so I made another Ron for myself. I ended up with the Weasley twins:

And finally, Hermione. She was the hardest to characterize, I tried 3 types of hair. This was the definitive one. Not really happy with it either... but not so bad. I loved Hermione, best character in the series, it has not been the same without her... and you know it.

Here's some more pics:

The Weasleys

Ron and Hermione, so cute together

And here's the whole gang!

I hope you like them!

Road to Jornaicas!

This weeken takes place the annual convention of Manga and Anime in my city, Zaragoza (The name in Spanish  is  Jornaicas de Manga y Anime de Zaragoza). The crochet association I belong to, el Ovillo Rebelde ("the rebel yarn ball) has been invited to give crochet classes for beginners and to expose and sell our creations. After all, the amigurumi technique comes from Japan, meaning "stuffed doll".

I wanted to show you some of my creations for this event.

I made a mini-Sailor Moon, an undeniable classic among anime and manga fans and, as you know, my long time favorite heroine. Se will be a keychain, thus her small size:

Other characters from a more recent manga/anime hit are Yuki y Kyou, from Fruits Basket. I made keychains of their animal forms:

A Totoro from the film  "My Neighbourgh Totoro" by Hayao Miyazaki

He has a tail!

And he also has a mini friend!

And less related with manga or anime but always geeky, here are some other  keychains I made. A green pig from Angry Birds , the instagram icon and a kawaii fortune cookie:

I hope you like them!

...Aaaaand today's  second post .
My friend Hyun Sang, a huge grunge music fan,  wanted a doll of his  favorite musician, Kurt Cobain.
He requested him to wear the famous red and black stripped sweater. And this is the result:

I couldn't resist, I had to add the black hair roots:

A photo with  Freddie was needed for posterity... Such great music icons together:

What do you think?

Another Freddie!

It's been a long time since my last post, but I was working in new comissions and I couldn't show in what I was working yet. Now I'm finished,  today there will be double post!

After the felt one, today I want to show you my version in amigurumi of the one and only Freddie Mercury. I'm already working in a bigger version for a special comission, but for now, here's mini Freddie.

He's dressed in the emblematic outfit of the Wembley concert: yellow jacket, white t-shirt and white pants with red and yellow side stripes.

Here's a picture for reference:

His famous moustache is made of felt so it looks fluffier :

The back of the jacket and the stripes:

I want to add  a microphone but I have to think a way to do one that looks tolerable enough... I'm thinking in adding some chest hair too, what do you think?
