Merry Christmas!

I'm one of this Christmas-loving people who apparently are in danger of extinction. I don't like Christmas carols everywhere I go, but I like the decorative lights in the streets, the trees, the feelings of nostalgia and festivity in the air...

This year I couldn't  have a Christmas tree at home but I tried to keep the spirit with some handmade ornaments.

A yarn snowed tree and a sock:

And a snowflake garland (that made it to get seen on TV! woohooo!)

Más en detalle:

The last one was an experiment by crocheting two different yarns togeteher and I love the result. I have to find more things to do with this combo. Ideas?

Merry Christmas!
FELIZ NAVIDAD !!!

Pride and Prejudice

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

I'm such a fan of Jane Austen novels... but I think  Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. The characters, the irony, the development of the protagonists... its a masterpiece.

I have read this book  both in Spanish and English....And yes, I also read the one with the zombies. Almost a sagrilege... but funny !

I've seen many  of the screen adaptations, but my favorite is the 1995 BBC version

After re-watching it again (this time for my master classes) I wanted to make something P&P related. And after a search in google I found this cute image of Lydia and Wickham.

Inspired by this drawing, I made a felt doll. I added a little flower that I had around the house.

Aaaaaand, with the technique of image over felt, a  brooch of Mr Darcy.

I'm sorry that I don't writed down the sources of the pics :(

More felt dolls:

I'm trying to improve my skills making felt dolls with some fabric appliques. The roman dress needs to improve, but I liked the  golden touches:

And I'm kind of  proud of how this other one turned out. Its made of felt, fabric and leather:

What do you think?

Ohana means family

Anyone who knows me can tell you how I love everything related to Disney. Some of them may even tell you that I have an addiction problem, especially when I'm planning to go to Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney world. But I don't care. The only thing I care is how I love to be there, enjoy my time as if I was a kid again and forget  about any of my adult problems and responsabilities.

Disney, after all, has been there all my life.I don't know how many time I watched The little Mermaid and The Sleeping  Beauty as a kid.

This year we have been in our second trip to Walt Disney World and the experience, far from boring for having already been there, was even better.

These little guys came home with us:

Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite movies... they are so cute, aren't they? I find this movie and its charactersso touching...

I wanted to make it in felt and I'm proud of the result. He looks so adorable reading the ugly duckling book :)

Here's the original:

I hope you like it!

Silver fox

I probably shouldn't say this... but this fox was going yo be a cat...but sometimes while you are making them, amigurumis decide for themselves what they want to be instead.

This little one preserves the bell and collar, but his face looks more like a little fox, doesn't it?

Mini-Warbler

Well... how to explain this. I had my master thesis defense and I made myself a brooch for the event. The thesis was about Glee and its use of technology and internet tools in the construction and development of the series. Yes, I know what you are thinking... but I think is quite interesting... and I loved the 3 first seasons of Glee... do you remember when it used to be soooo good? Now it has lost most of my interest, honestly, Ryan Murphy...what do you want from us?.

The brooch I made was a Warbler, Blaine inspired, since he is my favorite. Yes, I know, it's a nerdy thing to do. Anyway, since I was not really sure of  the university committee watching the series (since... you know, it's not the usual topic or text a senior teacher in a university comittee  would expect to be analyzed)  I thought it would be a fun test to see if they recognize the doll...well,  they didn't.

I liked how the doll turned out though, it had more details than the ones I was used to make in felt.
The tie is a crochet chain in two colors.

The original one, in case you don't know him:

Darren Criss as Blaine in Fox's Glee
The Warblers in Fox's Glee

Look! with no hair he looks like Caillou!

Too school for cool, maybe?
